4 Tips for Better Sleep!

By Kelsi Hicken | Oct 6, 2020

Sleep is one of the most important factors for our health, and yet, it always seems to be the thing that slips through the cracks. With the amount of caffeine, sugar, and mental stimulation that we intake every day, it’s no surprise that the amount of people who have trouble sleeping has risen drastically over the years. In order to get the best sleep possible, check out these tips!

1. Turn off your screens thirty minutes before bedtime.

Our computer, TV, and phone screens all emit UV light that disrupts our bodies’ natural production of melatonin, a naturally occurring hormone that causes us to fall asleep. In order to prevent this, avoiding using screens half an hour before you go to bed lessens the negative effects of the UV light. Instead, read a book, listen to some music or a podcast, or journal to relax your eyes and your mind.

2. Get into a nighttime routine.

The best way to prepare yourself for a full night of sleep is to get into a consistent nighttime routine. Going to bed at the same time every night and waking up at the same time every morning trains your body on when to be awake and asleep. Along with a consistent bedtime, there are other elements that you can add to your routine, like drinking a cup of relaxing tea or taking a bath.

3. Exercise.

Physical exercise of any kind, whether it’s a mile-long walk or your favorite workout class, is great for helping you fall asleep at night. It’s not only better for your general health, but it also tires you out, allowing your body to unwind easier at bedtime. Just make sure you don’t exercise too soon before bed, however, or the endorphins created during your workout will have the opposite effect and keep you awake.

4. Make sure you’re comfortable.

Last, but definitely not least, you can’t sleep if you’re uncomfortable. Whether your mattress is too hard, your pillow too thin, or your room too hot, it’s impossible to sleep well if everything’s not perfect. Cozy Earth’s bamboo sheets, pillowcases, and duvet cover are not only incredibly soft, but also regulate your body temperature so that you can fall asleep and stay asleep.

It may seem like there aren’t enough hours in the day, but that doesn’t mean you should let your sleep fall by the wayside. With a good bedtime routine and Cozy Earth’s amazing bedding, you’ll always feel refreshed and ready to tackle whatever tomorrow throws at you!
