Woman relaxing in bath

After a long, exhausting day, there’s nothing quite like sinking into a warm bath and letting the stress fade away. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite relaxing bath ideas to enhance your 5-9 routine to help you unwind and recharge.

How to Create the Ultimate Relaxing Bath Experience

  1. Declutter your space: The first step of creating a relaxing bath experience is to remove the “noise” from your bathroom; make sure your towels are folded and well-organized, the countertops are clear, dirty clothes are stored appropriately, clean clothes are put away, and kid’s toys are out of your space.
  2. Prepare for a bath: Does the idea of sitting in dirty bath water gross you out, too? We recommend showering first so your bath is a pool of relaxation rather than grimy germ water. Also, if you enjoy listening to music or dimming the lights to set the stage for relaxation, go ahead and do that now.
  3. Gather the essentials: Find a fresh towel, bath wrap, or bath robe and hang it nearby so you carry the warmth with you when you get out of the tub. Affix a bath pillow if your tub is hard or uncomfortable. Prep a bath tray with anything you may need – a refreshing beverage, an easy-to-eat snack, a candle or two, a book, or whatever makes you most relaxed.
  4. Prep the water: Run water to your desired temperature and add essential oils, bath bombs, bath salts, or bath teas to elevate your experience. If you’ve never used these before, a little goes a long way. Start slowly with only a few drops of oils, like lavender or eucalyptus, or a small sprinkle of Epsom salts to relax your body and your mind.
  5. Upgrade your bathing supplies: If you haven’t purchased a new towel since college, now is the perfect time to upgrade to ultra-absorbent towels, luxurious bathrobes, and cleansers and serums for your current skincare needs.
  6. Don’t stop at the bath: Self-care shouldn’t end when drain the water. We recommend moisturizing with creamy body butter after your bath, slipping into cozy PJs or loungewear, and practicing mindfulness for full-body relaxation.

Creating a relaxing bath routine is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to reset after a long day. By setting the right atmosphere, gathering your essentials, and indulging in high-quality bath and body products, you can turn your evening soak into a spa-like escape. So, go ahead—dim the lights, sink into the warmth, and let the stress melt away. Your well-being deserves it.
