The new year brings a sense of refreshment and renewal to every aspect of life, and one of our favorites to focus on is the capsule wardrobe. A wardrobe refresh is the best way to feel prepped and ready to conquer your resolutions. Read on for our best tips and tricks to update your wardrobe!

The essence of a capsule wardrobe is very simple: showcase incredible basics that can be styled in different ways. It is the best way to curate your current wardrobe and get a head start on some spring cleaning! I encourage you to go through your clothes and really think about the pieces that you are a little iffy about keeping. Think, “when was the last time I wore this,” “do I feel confident in how this fits me,” “how often do I really wear this?” Asking yourself these questions will help you determine whether or not you should hold on to certain items in your closet that do not get worn as much.
Once your closet has been paired down a bit, take inventory of your basics. The base of a capsule wardrobe should consist of pieces that can be mixed and matched. I recommend a few different types of tops and bottoms, as well as a few one off items like dresses, outerwear, and shoes.
It is also important to think about how you typically dress on a day to day basis and go off of that. Are you spending your days in an office? Lean towards a few more blouses and trousers. Are you on the go running errands most days? Maybe add in some more casual pieces that are dually polished and comfortable. A capsule wardrobe will be a little bit different for every person, and that is why it is so exciting to do a big refresh!

My favorite piece of my capsule wardrobe has been the Cozy Earth All Day Tee. It is seriously the best tee that I have ever owned. It is 100% cotton, making it durable and long lasting but also so beautiful and comfortable.
A forever staple in my wardrobe has been the Oversized Sunday Cashmere Cardigan. While it is a bit of a splurge, it will last for years to come. Not to mention that I wear it all the time! I love styling it with a dress or skirt for a more formal look or if I am running around the house I pair it with my CityScape Sweatpants. It is so timeless and beautiful.
The Always Cropped Pant is one of the most versatile pieces we have! It can be worn in the office with a button down and sweater for a business casual look, with a cardigan and tee for running errands, or a crewneck sweatshirt and sneakers around the house.
Every capsule wardrobe has to include a great pair of jeans. No matter where they are from, you should always get ones that make you feel confident! I recommend a darker wash for a capsule wardrobe, I feel that the darker wash looks more sophisticated and can be dressed up or down easier than a lighter wash.
I love a simple white button down shirt, and the versatility of this piece is astounding. You can wear it dressed up or down, layer it with a jacket or a sweater, and it works for every single season. This is a piece that I would invest in, if you grab a great one, you can wear it for years to come!
A good jacket is the best way to express your personal style in a capsule wardrobe! You can go with a leather jacket, a blazer, a bomber, or anything that suits your fancy! My personal favorite is a blazer that can be dressed up on top of the button up or dressed down over a hoodie. The Bouclé Shacket would be an amazing jacket to have for this!
Don’t forget shoes! I believe you need a few different pairs to really complete your wardrobe. A fun but comfy pair of sneakers is a must, a cute pair of boots are my fav, and a loafer/heel are the perfect shoe for things that feel a little more dressy. With your shoes, I recommend our Essential Socks. They are incredible and I am always recommending them to my friends!
