Designing a Cozy Living Room

As the end of summer draws near and the realization of fall being just around the corner materializes, you may already be buying new cozy PJs and planning your favorite autumn events. The end of summer and beginning of fall is the perfect time to think about how you want to create a cozy living room this season. Whether you live in the mountains where snow is abundant or in a warmer, year-round climate, it’s always nice to walk into an inviting space after a long day. Modern Cozy Living Room Ideas

  1. Add a new throw blanket: Is there really such a thing as too many throw blankets? Ensure everyone will experience your warm and cozy living room with a new Cuddle Blanket or Cashmere Fringe Blanket.
  2. Refresh your throw pillows: Allow your guests to get comfy and cozy on your couch or chair with a set of new throw pillows. Love the ones you already have? Give them a wash (check the instructions on the tag first) to make sure they’re ready for lots of snuggling this season.
  3. Dim the lights: Consider adding a dimmer switch to your overhead lighting or add floor and table lamps to provide a warm white glow.
  4. Clean your space: We’ve all heard of spring cleaning, but what about fall cleaning? Now is the perfect time to give your living space a deep clean ahead of holiday gatherings, parties, and mellow nights on the couch.
  5. Add plants: Plants in your living space can provide a pop of color and brighten up your mood. They’ve been shown to reduce stress levels and improve indoor air quality, which are added bonuses.
  6. Decorate with natural elements: In addition to adding plants, adding nature-inspired tables, art, and décor can spruce up your space and add to the cozy feel, especially if you’re one who enjoys the great outdoors.
  7. Mix up the colors: Consider giving your living room a fresh coat of paint, whether you’re going for a neutral palette of beiges and warm browns, or dark and moody greys and blacks. A fresh coat of paint may be just what your space needs to regain its cozy vibe.
  8. Add texture: In addition to paint, consider adding a new texture. Whether you choose matte, velvet, fluffy, or silky, textures can add visual interest and set the right tone in your cozy living room. You can also add in something metallic for a warm pop of shiny or shimmery color.
  9. Convert bookshelves to built-ins: If you’re a DIYer, this might be the perfect project for you! Get rid of the wobbly bookshelves you’ve had since college and install custom, built-in shelves. No problem if you’re not handy; there are lots of people who can do this for you. Once your new built-ins are ready, add books, picture frames, and other keepsakes to give your cozy living room a personal touch.

Now that you have ideas to create the perfect living space, it’s time to get to work!
